Bobath Baby Turnout for children under 3 years of age
Bobath Baby Turnout for children under 3 years of age
The earliest possible implementation of the therapy is crucial in a group of toddlers, because the plasticity of the brain is greatest in the first 3 years of life. The best and fastest effects can be observed during this period due to the increased possibility of reorganization of the damaged central nervous system. Faster and more intensive therapy here translates directly proportional to the effects and level of functioning of the child. The goal of rehabilitation is to achieve the best possible movement patterns and quality. During exercise, the child is constantly in motion and has activities selected to stimulate it for further development. On the other hand, early speech therapy intervention provides opportunities to compensate for deficits and improve digestive and communicative functions.
The turnout is dedicated to children:
- born prematurely;
- with low birth weight;
- diagnosed with abnormalities in imaging studies of the central nervous system;
- with cerebral palsy;
- with muscle tone disorders, including asymmetry;
- with a diagnosed genetic, metabolic syndrome or developmental defect;
- with psychomotor retardation.
During our turnout, we will perform a global assessment of the child's functioning. We begin the turnout with an interview with the parent, during which we diagnose the child's functioning in daily life. We will evaluate the child on an age-appropriate motor development scale and speech therapy scale, after which we will set goals and a therapy plan.
Parents of infants will be taught the principles of proper care, i.e. lifting, putting down, carrying, bathing, dressing, etc. We will select appropriate exercises, games and other forms of stimulation of normal development. We will assess for Sensory Integration disorders. We will create a rehabilitation plan and implement it for the Parent. We will also advise on the selection of appropriate orthopedic equipment (wheelchairs, seats, verticalizers) as well as small orthotic supplies (orthoses of the lower limbs, upper limbs, trunk...).
Benefits for the child of participating in the turnout:
- normalization of body muscle tone;
- improving the functioning of the oral-facial area, mouth closure and tongue retraction;
- paving of correct movement patterns and elimination of abnormal ones;
- strengthening muscle strength;
- improving coordination and balance;
- improvement in fine motor skills;
- suggesting/selecting appropriate orthopedic supplies and equipment/ aids for positioning and/or exercise;
- gaining positive ingestion experiences;
- normalization of breathing;
- improving biting, chewing and swallowing;
- developing communicative competence or introducing alternative communication (simple gestures, PECS, Makaton, pictograms).
Methods used during the turnout:
- NDT- Bobath;
- Sensory Integration;
- Neurologopedics, including the introduction of alternative communication;
- elements of soft tissue therapy
- Kinesiotaping.
Turnout details:
- 2 weeks - 10 working days (Monday to Friday);
- 1 hour per day - NDT Bobath therapy with SI elements;
- 1 hour per day - speech/neurologopedic therapy;
- 1 diagnostic consultation - development of turnout goals;
- 1 consultation summarizing the turnout.
