The sense of sight is a complex sensory system that enables us to identify images, anticipate what lies ahead, and prepare to respond. The organ of sight is one of the main senses responsible for contact with the outside world, for learning about reality. The process of seeing is subject to learning - a child learns to see, sometimes this learning is disrupted by environmental factors, anatomical defects, comorbidities, prematurity, hypoxia, perinatal complications and others. What is different is vision and perception. Visual perception is a complex mental process. If a child has an intellectual development disorder, perceptual development encounters very great difficulties. In this situation, the child also needs support.
Vision therapy carried out at our center is a multidimensional process aimed at improving both vision and perceptual functions. The vision therapist, after the diagnosis and identification of the problem, will strive with his interventions to achieve maximum improvement relative to the patient's abilities.
For your child:
- we will increase awareness of body sense and orientation in space;
- we will improve visual acuity;
- we will improve basic visual skills related to controlling eye movements (fixation, locating the stimulus, convergence, tracking, trailing, gaze transfer, searching);
- we will expand visual experience and visual memory;
- we will improve peripheral vision;
- we will improve the process of visual analysis and synthesis;
- we will improve eye-hand coordination;
- we will improve thought processes;
- in the classes we will focus on working: with the body, with the brain and mind, with the eyes.
For you, the Parent:
- we will show you how your child sees and how to arrange the surrounding space accordingly;
- we will prepare exercises for use at home, in order to ensure continuity of therapy;
- we will offer support at each stage of your child's development.
